Manufacturing Technician/Machinist

Department: Facilities

Job Summary

Provide technical support to the manufacturing department through the maintenance and repair of automated electronic/mechanical production equipment.  Perform various highly technical and complex duties to install, analyze, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machines. Ensure effective production operations and optimize equipment and building systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform all required actions to install, maintain, diagnose and repair machines. Assure optimal operating performance to ensure maximum run time availability.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems at system and component levels, repair equipment and related subassemblies, conduct standardized tests. Must be able to set up and operate standard test equipment (VOM multi-meters, etc.), as well as common hand tools.
  • Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance on all production equipment. Activities will include: adjust, replace or repair damaged or worn-out mechanisms; reassemble and test machine for proper operation and calibration.
  • Maintain maintenance and downtime records utilizing the CMMS record-keeping tool.
  • Notify Lead or Production Supervisor of any safety-related findings when repairing or maintaining equipment.
  • Work with project engineers and assist other Manufacturing Technicians as required to move and install production equipment and systems, assuring proper leveling and alignments. 
  • Cut and produce precision parts for machines, fixtures, and tools using both manual and automated equipment  such as Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machine tools, lathes, and milling machines
  • Install, maintain and repair plant equipment and systems through the support of outside contractors
  • Perform detailed inspections, of Production and Facility Equipment to ensure maximum reliability and minimize equipment interruptions.
  • Research, order and maintain tools, supplies, equipment, and parts inventory for services and repairs
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and maintain all equipment, according to maintenance plans and established procedures
  • Understand, maintain, and perform work according to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards and notify supervisor of any discrepancies
  • Perform other duties assigned

Qualifications:

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • HS required, Associateís Degree, mechanical/engineering discipline preferred
  • 5+ years of electronic/mechanical maintenance experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a machinist
  • Previous experience in an automated assembly environment required
  • PLC troubleshooting or programming experience is a plus
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
  • Excellent mathematical skills and analytical abilities
