Quality Assurance Manager

Department: Quality Assurance
Location: Bedford, MA

We provide data center customers and industry partners with mid-range and enterprise data tape formats such as unique data center accessories, value-added services, and archival solutions.

Job Summary: The Quality Assurance Manager manages activities for the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for the manufacturing process

Essential Functions:

  • Manages directs and staffs the quality function. This includes quality management, quality system improvement, auditing, corrective action verification, supplier quality, project planning, quality training, trending key quality indicators, and assessment of product and service quality
    • Manages the quality management and document control system
    • Plan department/functional goals to meet strategic objectives of the company
  • Works with Engineering to define the evaluation of the quality impact of equipment changes and enhancements, changes to raw materials, and process improvements
  • Manages activities of Quality Technicians engaged in inspecting incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products, to ensure adherence to defined quality standards and customer specifications
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation
    • Works with Fujifilm Odawara Quality Assurance to transfer knowledge and procedures from Japan
    • Ensures the necessary training is completed for both Quality Assurance and Production personnel
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition or rework of discrepant material and product return
    • Maintains the material quarantine area and ensures that all products are dispositioned in a timely manner
  • Maintains the calibration system ensuring that all critical test and measurement equipment is appropriately serviced and calibrated
  • Partners with vendors and suppliers to ensure effective and precise communication and act as a trusted resource in regards to quality issues and concerns
  • Works directly with Production Supervisors, Engineering, Supply Chain and Customer Service representatives to coordinate all activities related to Quality Assurance
  • Understand, maintain and perform work according to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Perform other duties assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises Quality Assurance Technician(s)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelorís degree or equivalent in a technical or engineering subject
  • 5 Ė 10 yearís relevant professional experience in Quality Assurance or Technical Support (with at least 5 in a production environment )
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
